Narrative Profile

St. Martin's Episcopal Church was established in the 1950's by a group of visionary Christians wanting to establish new roots in a suburban community. Although through the years our Brown Deer community has been transient, St. Martin's strong commitment to God has grown greatly.

God lives at St. Martin's, and we celebrate that each and every day. We are people who support each other as we continue to seek our own links to God and look for opportunities to share this with others. Our parish is rich in the Episcopal tradition and able to stretch in order to experience the Holy Spirit in different ways through music and programs. Our "Eucharistic Band" and our monthly folk mass are examples of this. Our parish family differs in ethnic, racial, education and socio-economic backgrounds. We reflect the diversity of our neighborhood and the kingdom of God.

Young people rule! From decorating and hanging butterflies for Easter, presenting "The Christmas Story" at Epiphany, to each and every Sunday's educational hour, children at St. Martin's take the spotlight.

St. Martin's has a strong desire to be a part of the community. We are founding partners of Granville Interfaith, a program for the elderly. Our community Thanksgiving dinner is very popular and serves fifty to seventy-five people. Once a year we have a "mass in the grass", with an ethnic potluck to follow.

St. Martin's dares to grow physically, numerically, and spiritually. Come and grow with us.
